Gruesome Goodies: The Mummy Dogs

Ingredients

  • 1 tin of Ye Olde Oak Classic hot dogs
  • Packet of puff-pastry
  • Tomato ketchup
  • 1 medium egg

Method

1. Empty hot dogs, including brine, into a saucepan and heat gently for about 5 minutes.
2. Roll out your puff pastry and slice into thin strips.
3. Wrap the pastry around each hot dog, leaving some gaps to create the bandage look.
4. Add edible googly eyes (you can find them in the home baking aisle or online).

Spooky Snacks: Spider Dogs

Ingredients

  • 1 tin of Ye Olde Oak classic hot dogs
  • Small potatoes or Gnocchi

Method

1. Empty hot dogs, including brine, into a saucepan and heat gently for about 5 minutes.
2. Cut the hot dogs in half, then slice them into thin strips.
3. Boil or mash potatoes, shaping them into small round potato balls. (You can also use gnocchi if easier or preferred.)
4. Stick each slice of a hot dog into the sides of the potatoes, creating 8 spiders legs.
5. Draw on eyes using a cocktail stick and tomato ketchup. You could also use edible eyes on this one too.

A frightening family favourite: Witchy Fingers

Ingredients

  • 3 Ye Olde Oak Classic hot dogs
  • 3 hot dog buns
  • Tomato ketchup

Method

1. Empty hot dogs, including brine, into a saucepan and heat gently for about 5 minutes.
2. Strain the hot dogs and then use a knife to cut a fingernail and knuckles into each hot dog.
3. Add the hot dogs to the buns and add ketchup at the base of each one for a real trick or treat.

Creepy Cooking: Hot Dog Jellyfish

Ingredients:

  • 1 tin of Ye Olde Oak Hot Dogs
  • Dried Spaghetti

Method:

1. Do not pre-cook the hot dogs. Take out of tin and cut each hot dog into about 4 pieces.
2. Snap spaghetti in half and stick about 5 or 6 pieces in each hot dog piece.
3. Carefully insert jellyfish into a pan of boiling water and cook for approximately 10 minutes (as you would normal pasta).
4. Take each one out carefully. The spaghetti manages to cook but keep inside the hot dog meaning the jellyfish tentacles stay in place!
5. Serve on a plate, you could add spinach or kale as seaweed for an additional effect.
